Decision Information
Decision review - Appropriateness of bargaining unit - Section 27 of the Public Service Staff Relations Act (PSSRA) - on June 27, 1988, the Board certified the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) as bargaining agent for all employees of the Statistics Survey Operations"who are engaged in the carrying out of business surveys": (144-24-282); (1988) 13 PSSRB Decisions 4 - on December 14, 1999, PSAC requested the Board to amend the description of the bargaining unit to include employees at the same work location who were doing social surveys - the employer indicated that it did not oppose PSAC's application - as directed by the Board, the employer posted notices in the workplace advising employees affected by the application of their right to file statements of opposition by a specified date - no statements expressing opposition to the application were filed with the Board - under the circumstances, the Board was satisfied that the amended bargaining unit proposed by PSAC was appropriate for collective bargaining - accordingly, the Board amended the description of the bargaining unit contained in its earlier decision to read:"all employees of the employer engaged in the carrying out of survey activities primarily in the Statistics Canada Regional Offices". Application allowed.
